Ports chairman to Southern polls
The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Mr. Priyath Bandu Wickrama is preparing to contest for the oncoming Southern Provincial Council Election, reliable sources report.

The sources further say that it had been the President’s eldest son MP Namal Rajapaksa who had suggested that Mr. Wickrama, who was the pioneer in constructing the Hambantota Port, must be put into the PC polls run.

It is said that as in the recently held Central and North Western Provincial Council elections, the Govt is intending to maximize its vote count by creating a sharp competition among United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) candidates by not nominating a Chief Minister candidate.
