A tense situation has been reported in the center of the Dambulla town after police fired teargas to disperse crowds protesting against the new plastic crate rule introduced by the government regarding vegetable transportation.
Protesters had launched an attack on several police personnel stationed at the location to control the agitation, which then led to the teargas attack, Ada Derana reporter said.
It is also reported that the situation has not been brought under control yet.
The protest was launched today (13) afternoon, against the Co-operatives and Internal Trade Ministry’s rule making the transportation of vegetables and fruits in plastic crates mandatory. |
