Senior singer and musician Rukantha Gunatilake has been appointed head of Siyatha FM radio channel, to succeed Mohan Raj Madawala.
He previously headed the music division of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
Born to a middle class family in Kegalle, he was educated at St. Anthony’s College and learnt music under Stanley Peiris and Cyril Brown.
Since 1976, he has been working as a lyricist, and could not find a singer for his song ‘Bambara Pahasa’, which marked the beginning of his singing career. |
