Two eminent American neuro surgeons flown from Singapore operated on the critically injured UPFA Colombo District Parliamentarian Duminda Silva, who is still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sri Jayawardenapura General Hospital (SJGH).
Silva received serious gun shot injury to his head in a shootout at Mulleriyawa on Saturday (8). Two bullets were removed from his brain in a four-hour operation by the two neuro surgeons and a third bullet is still imbedded in his forehead.
Director of SJGH Dr. Savindra Gamage told ‘The Island’ that although there was an improvement in the patient’s condition, he was not in position to be moved anywhere else for treatment.
